1. Club membership
You join a recognised sports shooting club – for example Shooting Club Society e.V. – and take part in regular training.
From introductory shoot to sports shooter
During your introductory shoot you can learn about our sports shooting club – and about the path to owning your own firearm with a weapons possession card (WBK).
Want more than a one-off experience?
Many guests realise during the introductory shoot that they want to learn the sport properly. That is where Shooting Club Society e.V. comes in: we explain the path clearly, guide you step by step and stay with our members on the way to sports shooting with their own licensed firearms.
Shooting Club Society e.V.
A modern sports shooting club (founded 2018) with focus locations in Regensburg, Munich and Philippsburg – plus further regions such as Schwandorf. Focus on training, safety and progress – without mandatory traditional club social life.
- Beginners and experienced shooters welcomeMany members start with no prior experience. Experienced instructors explain everything calmly – structured, discreet and safe.
- No compulsory club eveningsSports shooting comes first, not mandatory social events. Legal and safety requirements of course still apply.
- Organised within the clubAs a member, key steps can be supported in the club environment – including orientation for the later lawful purchase of firearm, ammunition and equipment.
- Partner: PAA Shooting AcademyPAA Shooting Academy supports as a cooperation partner with coaching, training organisation and weapons-proficiency courses. Club and Academy are legally separate.
The path to a sports shooter’s weapons permit (WBK)
For sports shooters in Germany the path to an own licensed firearm is clearly regulated – and with good guidance it is manageable. The competent weapons authority always makes the final decision.
General orientation only, not legal advice. The current weapons law, your personal situation and the authority’s assessment are decisive. Requirements may differ depending on the case (e.g. calibre, age, federation).

2. Regular shooting (“Bedürfnis”)
You normally need at least 12 months of regular sports shooting. “Regular” typically means at least once a month or 18 times in total over the relevant year, with documented range sessions.

3. Weapons proficiency (Sachkunde)
You complete the legal weapons proficiency course (theory and practice including exam). This can be done with PAA Shooting Academy / partner structures – we explain the process calmly.

4. Safe storage (gun safe)
For later possession you need suitable storage – in practice usually a gun cabinet with resistance grade 0 or 1 according to DIN/EN 1143-1 (depending on the number of firearms and requirements). We explain what to look for.

5. Need certificate & application
With club/federation certificates, proficiency proof, ID and storage proof you apply for the weapons possession card (WBK) at your weapons authority. The authority also checks reliability and suitability.

6. Buying firearm, ammunition & equipment
After the permit is granted we continue to support members with orientation and practical questions. Purchase and possession only take place within the legal framework.
